Multi-Country Research Fellowships Program for US Students, 2013


Council of American Overseas Research Centers(CAORC) offers Multi-Country Fellowships Program. The fellowship is tenable at two or more countries outside the United States. The fellowship is offered in the field of humanities, social sciences, and allied natural sciences. Students must be US citizens and must have a PhD or be a doctoral candidate who has completed all PhD requirements. Nine fellowships that amounts up to $10,500 each will be given. The duration of fellowship is 90 days. Application is to be submitted online.
Study Subject(s): Fellowships are limited to the support of study and research in the humanities, social sciences, and allied natural sciences.

Scholarship can be taken at: Applicants must propose and conduct field research in at least two countries outside the United States, one of which must host an American overseas research center (ORC).
Eligibility:Applicants must meet all of the following requirements and will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin and/or disability.
-Must be a U.S. citizen. Proof of citizenship (photocopy of passport) must be shown upon award notification.
-Must have a Ph.D. or be a doctoral candidate who has completed all Ph.D. requirements with the exception of the dissertation.
-Must be engaged in the study of and research in the humanities, social sciences, and allied natural sciences.
-Must wish to conduct research of regional or trans-regional significance in two or more countries outside the United States, one of which must host a participating American overseas research center (ORC).
Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: The students of USA can apply for this fellowship.
Scholarship Description: The Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) Multi-Country Fellowship Program supports advanced regional or trans-regional research in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences for U.S. doctoral candidates and scholars who have already earned their PhD. Preference will be given to candidates examining comparative and/or cross-regional research. Applicants are eligible to apply as individuals or in teams.
Number of awards offered: Nine awards are offered.
Duration of award(s): Fellowship tenure must be of at least 90 days duration. The fellowship tenure need not be continuous.
What does it cover?$10,500 each will be given.
Selection Criteria: Merits of the proposal for significance, relevance, and potential contribution to regional and/or trans-regional scholarly research.
-Applicant qualifications.
-Research design and methodology.
-Significance to the applicant’s field.
-Significance to needs and interests of host country and CAORC.
-Feasibility in terms of resources and amount of time allocated to the project.
-Need for residence in host country to accomplish the project.
-Proficiency in language required to complete research project, if applicable.
Notification:Notification of fellowship status will be made available to each applicant via email by Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Fellows are advised that it can take up to six months to obtain the necessary research clearance.
